I am a writer, and as such, I am raw.  Through my writing, I am as exposed to the world as if my skin had been peeled away.  I am as vulnerable as an open wound.

But I am very lucky, too.  I am wrapped in a cloak that is as soft as down, but as strong as steel.  That cloak is made up of my family and friends.  They are those who love me most of all.  Their love protects me from the rejection and criticism that I face with every word I share.

I am raw.  I am an open wound.  I am a writer.  I am an author.  And I have the courage to be so, because I am loved.
